NEW STANTON, PA (July 7, 2006) –The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission will conduct another week of instant E-ZPass sign-ups on the Amos K. Hutchinson Greensburg Bypass (Turnpike 66) starting Monday.
    
Sign-up teams will be stationed at the mainline toll plaza, approximately one mile south of Turnpike 66’s interchange with U.S. Route 30, from 7:30 am to 5 pm Monday, July 10 through Friday, July 14.
    
Drivers interested in enrolling in the electronic fare collection program will be directed by signage to the parking lot on the southeast side of the facility, which is accessible from the northbound lanes only.
    
E-ZPass registrants mount a small transponder on the windshield that sends a signal to an overhead reader in the fare collection lane. The devices interact to classify vehicles and deduct appropriate fares from pre-paid accounts while drivers keep moving.
    
It costs as little as $38 to open an account, with $35 of that being toll credit that does not expire. It’s easiest to pay by credit card or debit card and authorize automatic replenishment when your pre-paid balance drops below $10. Transponders can be moved between vehicles. Customers can view and print confidential transaction statements from the Turnpike’s Web site.
    
Pennsylvania’s E-ZPass program functions seamlessly with easily recognizable electronic fare collection lanes on most Northeastern and Atlantic Seaboard toll roads and a growing consortium of toll roads extending as far west as Illinois. 
    
Folks who enroll online at www.paturnpike.com or by calling toll-free 877-736-6727 will have their transponder, mounting strips and owner’s manual mailed to them.    

Instant sign-ups also are available at AAA offices throughout the Pittsburgh region.
