 TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Entry Lane Restrictions at the Harrisburg East Interchange #247
Effective Thursday, November 3, 2005

HARRISBURG, PA (October 28, 2005) – Beginning Thursday, November 3, 2005, lane restrictions will be in effect for motorists entering the Pennsylvania Turnpike at the HarrisburgEast Interchange, # 247. Construction barrier will be moved to accommodate ongoing construction of a new westbound acceleration ramp at the toll plaza. This new traffic pattern will require motorists intending to travel westbound on the Pennsylvania Turnpike to use EntryLanes 1 and 2 (to the right), while motorists intending to travel eastbound will be required to use Entry Lanes 3 and 4 (to the left).

Because of these restrictions, all four entry lanes will be operated in “E-ZPass and Ticket” mode, so they are available to both E-ZPass and ticket customers.

It is anticipated that these lane restrictions will remain in effect for approximately one year. The work at the Harrisburg East Interchange, # 247 is part of a $150 million project to replace the Susquehanna River Bridge, approach roadway, interchange ramps and bridges, and toll plaza. Construction is scheduled to be completed in late summer 2007.

Motorists are urged to drive carefully and use caution in this area.
