TRAFFIC ADVISORY

“OFF-HOUR” LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED FOR WARRENDALE AND BUTLER VALLEY AREAS

Lane closures affecting Pennsylvania Turnpike customers traversing the areas of the Warrendale mainline toll plaza at Milepost 31 and the Butler Valley interchange at Milepost 39 are scheduled to begin on Monday, Sept. 27 and continue for several weeks.

Restrictions are to be in effect during non-peak travel times so that impacts to the motoring public are minimized.

Turnpike traffic is to be restricted to one lane each direction between Milepost 37.9 and Milepost 39.6, from 6 pm to 6 am weekdays, for a period of approximately six weeks.

Crews will be installing temporary concrete barriers and milling and paving roadway shoulders as part of a design/build total reconstruction project on a 1.7-mile stretch of Interstate 76 in the area of the Butler Valley interchange with Pa. Route 8.

Also starting Monday and continuing for a period of approximately three weeks, Turnpike customers traversing the Warrendale facility between 7 pm and 7 am can expect to encounter lane restrictions of varying types. On occasion, these restrictions will include a closure of the E-ZPass Express lane serving eastbound traffic.

The restrictions at Warrendale are necessary so that crews can remove the overhead bridge at the eastern end of the Warrendale plaza carrying Franklin Road over I-76.

Replacement of the Franklin Road Bridge is scheduled for completion in June 2005.
