TRAFFIC ADVISORY

NIGHTTIME REMOVAL OF CRASHED TRUCK WILL RESTRICT EASTBOUND TRAFFIC APPROACHING DONEGAL

Removal of a tractor-trailer that crashed into Jacobs Creek at Milepost 85.5 and related cleanup and repairs Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights on the Interstate 76/I-70 mainline will affect eastbound traffic between the New Stanton and Donegal interchanges in Westmoreland County.

Eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane on a 1.5-mile stretch of the Turnpike between 9:30 pm Monday, Sept. 13, and 8:30 am Tuesday, Sept. 14, so that crews can unload cargo from the trailer.

A single-lane pattern eastbound will go into effect again at 9:30 pm Tuesday so that workers can temporarily reposition concrete barrier in preparation for removal of the rig. After the single-lane pattern is lifted, state police will conduct three traffic “pacings” (slowdowns) to give crews time to remove the tractor-trailer.

On Wednesday, Sept. 15, a single-lane pattern eastbound again will go into effect at 9:30 pm to allow for the removal of concrete barrier. Afterwards, state police will conduct four traffic pacings while workers replace damaged guiderails.

The single-lane patterns to begin at 9:30 Tuesday and Wednesday nights are expected to be lifted by 1 am. Schedules are subject to change.
