TRAFFIC ADVISORY BARRIER WORK REQUIRES SINGLE-LANE PATTERN ON ROUTE 60 EXPRESSWAY NEAR CLINTON DURING EVENING AND OVERNIGHT HOURS

Motorists on the Pa. Route 60 Expressway north of Pittsburgh International Airport may encounter single-lane patterns tonight and overnight until daybreak Tuesday for the placement of median barriers relative to construction of the Findlay Connector.

A single-lane pattern affecting either the northbound passing lane or the southbound passing lane will be implemented as necessary so that crews can set concrete barriers in the median to protect workers who will be boring under Route 60.

Closures will occur between 9 tonight and 6:30 am Tuesday and will affect a 2,000-foot stretch of Route 60 in the area of the Clinton Road overpass in Findlay Township , Allegheny County . Only one passing lane will be closed at any given time, as lane closures will not be simultaneous.

If necessary, restrictions may be implemented again during the same times Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Disruptions to traffic flow should be minimal because of the timing of the restrictions.

The work is part of a $64.9 million roadway construction contract awarded by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission to Dick Corporation of Jefferson Hills. Dick Corporation will be constructing the northernmost 1.4 miles of the six-mile Findlay Connector, including its interchange with Route 60 at Pittsburgh International Airport .

The Findlay Connector, the first part of a proposed 32-mile Southern Beltway system, measures about six miles altogether and will tie in with U.S. Route 22 between Bavington and Champion.
