TRAFFIC ADVISORY
WESTBOUND ON AND OFF RAMPS AT DONEGAL INTERCHANGE TO BE CLOSED FOR 10 DAYS BEGINNING LATE MONDAY, JULY 21

Effective at 11 pm Monday, July 21, westbound traffic movements into and out of the Turnpike’s Donegal interchange (Milepost 90.7) in southeastern Westmoreland County will be halted for a 10-day period so that crews can finish a bridge demolition.

Westbound motorists on Interstate 76/70 will not be allowed to exit at Donegal and motorists will be unable to enter the Turnpike at Donegal and proceed west. Eastbound movements into and out of Donegal will not be affected.

Restrictions on the westbound movements are to be lifted as of 11 pm Thursday, July 31. The schedule is subject to change, especially in the event of severe weather.

Detours will be posted. In addition, message boards on the Turnpike will inform customers of the restrictions and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) messages will be broadcast on 1640 AM.

Westbound traffic on the Turnpike that typically would exit at Donegal should instead exit at Somerset (MP 110) and follow the orange detour – Pa. Route 601 South to Pa. Route 31 West.

Traffic that typically would enter the Turnpike at Donegal to proceed west should follow the blue detour – Route 31 West to Pa. Route 982 South to U.S. Route 119 North to Turnpike entry at New Stanton.

A black detour will be posted for commercial vehicles that typically would enter the Turnpike at Donegal to proceed west. The black detour is Pa. Route 711 North to U.S. Route 30 West to Turnpike 66 South to Interstate 76 entry at New Stanton.

The bridge being replaced at the Donegal interchange carries mainline Turnpike traffic over the westbound on and off ramps. The work at the interchange is part of a $66.8 million total reconstruction project between MP 85 and MP 94.

More information about the project, including shots from real-time traffic cameras, is available online at www.paturnpike.com. On the Turnpike homepage, click on “Construction/Expansion” and then click on the “Milepost 85 to 94” wording on the Turnpike map.
