Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Turnpike invites motorists to Take a Break at the Allentown Service Plaza (available to both southbound and northbound travelers at milepost 55.9 on the Northeastern Extension) on Thursday, June 19, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. “We have planned a fun and informative day for everyone,” said Manager of Customer Safety Joseph Rispoli. “We offer these yearly get-togethers with the public in order to keep them informed of the latest in highway safety, and to let them know that there are a lot of people working behind the scenes in order to ensure the well-being of our Turnpike customers,” he said. Travelers can enjoy a free beverage while they chat with representative from the Turnpike’s emergency medical service, maintenance department, fare collection, operations and incident management, as well as from Pennsylvania Police Troop T, local authorized service, and fire department. All participating officials will be happy to explain their role in assisting motorists, and answer related questions. Some emergency equipment will be on display and a PSP trooper who is a certified inspector of child safety seats, will offer free safety seat checks and demonstrate how to properly install and use child safety seats and restraints. Additionally, free blood pressure screening will be available throughout the day. “The Pennsylvania Turnpike’s top priority has always been the safety of its customers. We’re proud to serve motorists using the nation’s first superhighway,” said Chief Executive Officer Joseph G. Brimmeier.
