TRAVEL ADVISORY

BRIEF STOPPAGES, LANE RESTRICTIONS SCHEDULED
AGAIN FOR SIGN WORK NEAR GATEWAY PLAZA

Traffic stoppages are scheduled for next week, weather permitting, in the vicinity of the Gateway toll plaza on Interstate 76 near the Ohio line as crews resume an ongoing project to erect permanent signs that will serve motorists leaving and coming onto the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Single-lane patterns eastbound and westbound also will be part of the mix of periodic traffic restrictions. Sign work is scheduled for Monday, April 7 west of the mainline barrier and for Wednesday, April 9 east of the toll plaza.

Work begun on Monday may spill over into Tuesday morning but it would affect eastbound traffic only.

Two stoppages affecting all traffic are scheduled for Monday morning, at approximately 9 am and 10:30 am. They should not exceed 15 minutes.

Five more stoppages affecting eastbound traffic only are scheduled during afternoon hours on Monday.

On Wednesday, up to two stoppages affecting eastbound and westbound traffic (but not both directions simultaneously) are scheduled between 8 am and noon.

Ultimately, the Turnpike Commission will have eight new overhead signs (four static signs and four electronic message boards) in the area. Four will serve westbound traffic approaching the Gateway plaza from the east. Four will serve eastbound traffic approaching the Gateway plaza from the west.

The sign work is to conclude before Memorial Day.
