TRAVEL ADVISORY HARRISBURG,
Pa. (Wednesday, October 30, 2002)
— The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission announced today that the Turnpike
will be temporarily limited to a single lane eastbound near the Breezewood
Interchange on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. The
2-mile long single-lane pattern will begin at milepost 161, one-half mile
before the Breezewood Interchange (#12/161). The road will open back up to
two lanes at milepost 163. The eastbound on/off ramps of the Breezewood
Interchange fall within the single-lane pattern. During
the single-lane closure, crews will shift concrete barrier in preparation
for a traffic switch in the early afternoon. At approximately 2 p.m.,
eastbound traffic will be switched from the existing bridge onto the new
bridge at MP 162.1 eastbound. This work is associated with the project to
replace the Turnpike bridges that carry the Turnpike over I-70 and South
Breezewood Road. A
brief delay is possible during the traffic switch in the early afternoon.
No other delays are anticipated. Travelers should be alert for stopped or
slow-moving traffic when approaching this area. MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO USE CAUTION IN THIS AREA, AND REMEMBER TO GIVE HIGHWAY WORKERS A "BRAKE." |
