Turnpike Closure Planned
For Bridge Work in Westmoreland County
Traffic to be detoured off
Turnpike at Exit 8 and 9 for early Sunday shutdown.
Harrisburg, PA – The stretch of Pennsylvania Turnpike between Donegal
Interchange (#9) and New Stanton Interchange (#8) in Westmoreland County
will be closed to traffic in the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 19.
The five-hour closure will begin on Saturday, Aug. 18 at midnight, and
the roadway will reopen on Sunday, Aug. 19 at 5 a.m.
The road closure is to allow for the setting of
steel girders at two overhead bridges: Milepost 88.9 and at MP 90.14.
These two bridge-replacement projects are a part of the total
reconstruction of the Turnpike at milepost 85-94.
All eastbound and westbound lanes between Interchanges 8 and 9 will be
closed, and traffic will be detoured off the system during this shutdown.
Information on alternate routes will be available from collectors at the
tollbooths of the two affected Interchanges.
This work is weather
permitting; the closure will not take place in case of inclement weather
conditions.
