TRAVEL ADVISORY:
Five-Hour Turnpike Closure Planned For Bridge Work in Westmoreland County
Traffic to be detoured off Turnpike at Exit 8 and 9 for early Sunday shutdown.

Harrisburg, PA – The stretch of Pennsylvania Turnpike between Donegal Interchange (#9) and New Stanton Interchange (#8) in Westmoreland County will be closed to traffic in the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 19.

The five-hour closure will begin on Saturday, Aug. 18 at midnight, and the roadway will reopen on Sunday, Aug. 19 at 5 a.m.

The road closure is to allow for the setting of steel girders at two overhead bridges: Milepost 88.9 and at MP 90.14. These two bridge-replacement projects are a part of the total reconstruction of the Turnpike at milepost 85-94.

All eastbound and westbound lanes between Interchanges 8 and 9 will be closed, and traffic will be detoured off the system during this shutdown. Information on alternate routes will be available from collectors at the tollbooths of the two affected Interchanges.

This work is weather permitting; the closure will not take place in case of inclement weather conditions.

MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO USE CAUTION IN THIS AREA,
AND REMEMBER TO GIVE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE
HIGHWAY WORKERS A "BRAKE."
