TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Effective at noon Friday, Sept. 29, State Route 1006 (Finleyville-Elrama Road) in Union Township, Washington County will reopen at the Mon/Fayette Expressway construction site near the village of Gastonville. SR 1006 is a popular connector road between Pa. Route 837 at the west shore of the Monongahela River and Pa. Route 88 in Finleyville Borough. It has been closed since May 1 for reconstruction of a bridge over Peters Creek. Widening of the bridge from 23 feet to some 41 feet was part of the Turnpike Commission’s ongoing construction of the Mon/Fayette Expressway Project north from Interstate 70 in Fallowfield Township, Washington County to Pa. Route 51 in Jefferson Hills Borough, Allegheny County. Mon/Fayette Construction Section 52H, contracted to New Enterprise Stone & Lime Company at $49.2 million, includes an interchange with SR 1006 and the reconstruction of parts of SR 1006 and Union Township Road 992 (Patterson Road). The 17-mile expressway project from I-70 to Route 51 is targeted for completion in late 2001. |
