TRAFFIC ADVISORY:
Craig Road to Close Monday at Permanent Severance by New Mon/Fayette Expressway

Effective at 7 AM Monday, July 10, 2000, Craig Road in Carroll Township, Washington County will be permanently severed by the new Mon/Fayette Expressway being constructed north from Interstate 70 to Pa. Route 51.

The severance point is just east of Craig Road's intersection with Cracker Jack Road (State Route 1067) on the Carroll-Fallowfield Township line.

On the east side of the new expressway, Craig Road will remain open from its intersection with Hazelkirk Road (in the village of Valley Inn) west to the severance point, where a turnaround will be built. No turnaround will be built on Craig Road west of the expressway because of the closeness of the junction with Cracker Jack Road.

The 17-mile Mon/Fayette Expressway Project between I-70 in Fallowfield Township, Washington County and Route 51 in Jefferson Hills Borough, Allegheny County remains targeted for completion in late 2001.

Closest access to the expressway from the Valley Inn/Hazel Kirk area will be the interchange with Pa. Route 136 near Ringgold High School.
