TRAFFIC ADVISORY:
TEMPORARY SINGLE-LANE PATTERN FOR EASTBOUND TRAFFIC
IN NEW STANTON AREA BEGINS LATE SUNDAY

Eastbound traffic on the Interstate 76/I-70 mainline in the New Stanton area of Westmoreland County will be reduced to one lane from 11 pm Sunday, March 26 until 11 am Friday, March 31.

The single-lane pattern will begin at Milepost 74.2 and end at Milepost 85. The New Stanton interchange (Exit #8) is located at Milepost 75.5.

The restriction is necessary so that crews can re-arrange temporary barriers and perform other traffic control tasks for a total reconstruction project between Milepost 76 and Milepost 85. The project is contracted to Angelo Iafrate Construction Corporation of Warren, Mich. in the amount of $49.5 million.

Message signs and a Highway Advisory Radio frequency will be utilized to inform Turnpike customers of the single-lane pattern. Westbound traffic through the area will not be restricted. Backups are expected to result, especially during afternoon and early evening hours.

Motorists are advised to remain alert, reduce their speed and expect periodic delays and backups as they travel through the work zone.
