CONTRACT AWARDED FOR CLIMBING LANE ON
COYLE CURTAIN ROAD NEAR MON CITY

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission today awarded CH&D Enterprises of New Stanton a $2,429,032 contract to widen a three-quarter-mile stretch of State Route 2025 (Coyle Curtain Road) between Coyle Curtain Road’s interchange with the new Mon/Fayette Expressway and Pa. Route 88.

CH&D Enterprises was the lowest of four bidders for the project, which is to conclude by November 17, 2000. Bids were opened on December 16.

Upon completion, the three-quarter-mile segment of Coyle Curtain Road will have a third 11-foot travel lane and six-foot shoulders. Coyle Curtain’s present stop sign intersection at Pa. Route 88 will be signalized and slightly realigned.

The additional travel lane is among the side road improvements required for the 17-mile Mon/Fayette Expressway Project between Interstate 70 and Pa. Route 51. It will allow cars and small trucks to pass larger vehicles traveling uphill (northeast) from the expressway interchange to Pa. Route 88.

Coyle Curtain Road, an east-west link between Pa. Route 88 and Pa. Route 481 in the Ghennes Heights area, will remain open to local traffic throughout the project. Closures to through traffic will be announced and detours will be posted.

The project area spans the border of Fallowfield and Carroll townships in eastern Washington County.
