TRAVEL ADVISORY:
TURNPIKE TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS AND DELAYS IN WESTMORELAND COUNTY
EXTENDED THROUGH THURSDAY, AUGUST 4, 1999

The traffic restrictions for mile posts 94 to 99.3 eastbound along the Pennsylvania Turnpike which began Monday evening, August 2nd at 8:00 P.M. have been extended to Thursday, August 4, at 6:00 A.M. due to the amount of time required to move the temporary barrier along that section of the Turnpike.

In addition to the delays expected in the press release dated July 28, 1999 for Tuesday August 3rd, in the afternoon and early evening hours, backlogs and delays are now also anticipated Wednesday, August 4th in the afternoon and early evening hours.

Turnpike travelers may want to use an alternate route during these time periods on Tuesday and Wednesday, the 3rd and 4th of August. A suggested route is as follows:

Turnpike customers traveling east can exit at Donegal Interchange #9 (milepost 90.7) to State Route 31 East, To State Route 281 North, to the Gilmore Bypass and re-enter the Pennsylvania Turnpike at Somerset Interchange #10 (milepost 109.9)

Please see the attached original press release regarding this construction area.
