TRAFFIC ADVISORY:
NEW TRAFFIC PATTERNS AND STOPPAGES ON
TURNPIKE NEAR BREEZEWOOD INTERCHANGE IN BEDFORD COUNTY

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is advising motorists that between March 15 through the 19, AND March 22 through the 26, 1999, construction work is tentatively scheduled at milepost 161, ½ mile west of the Breezewood Interchange. The work, involving the removal of the bridge running over the Turnpike at milepost 161, will begin each week at midnight Sunday and continue to noon Friday. During this entire construction period, lane shifts, single lane patterns and periodic traffic stoppages will occur.

For the week of March 15 through the 19th, westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane, while two narrow eastbound lanes will be open, utilizing a lane shift pattern. For the week of March 22 through the 26th, eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane, while two narrow westbound lanes will be open, utilizing a lane shift pattern.

Two lanes of traffic in both directions will be open during the weekend in between this construction period, from the afternoon of Friday the 19th, through midnight, Sunday the 21st.

Turnpike customers traveling through this area are urged to take needed precautions for their travels, expecting delays, lane shifts and single lane patterns in the construction area. Motorists are also urged to use caution in this and all construction areas, and to remember to give Pennsylvania Turnpike Highway Workers a "Brake."
