TRAFFIC TO BE STOPPED IN NEW STANTON, WESTMORELAND COUNTY
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is advising motorists of traffic delays near the New Stanton Interchange (Exit 8) in Westmoreland County on Monday, July 27, 1998, weather permitting.
Delays are likely due to intermittent traffic stoppages on State Route 3091, Interstate 70 and the exit ramp of the Turnpike's New Stanton Interchange leading to SR 119.
All east and westbound traffic on SR 3091 and I-70, in addition to the ramp leading from New Stanton Interchange to SR 119, will be subject to intermittent stoppages lasting no longer than 15 minutes. Stoppages will occur between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 27, 1998.
Traffic at these locations must be halted for the installation of steel girders onto the ramp bridge that carries Turnpike traffic from New Stanton Interchange to SR 119. This ramp bridge crosses over I-70 and SR 3091.
Travelers are encouraged to anticipate delays and to take needed precautions for their travel plans in Westmoreland County on this day. Motorists in the area may tune into the Turnpike's Highway Advisory Radio at 1610 AM for traffic updates. Motorists are also urged to use caution in this and all construction areas, and remember to give Pennsylvania Turnpike highway workers a "brake."
