INTERSECTION RECONSTRUCTION IN
SPRINGHILL TOWNSHIP, FAYETTE COUNTY
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission announces reconstruction of the intersection of State Route 0857, Morgantown Road, and S.R. 3002, Gans Road, in Springhill Township, Fayette County beginning June 1, 1998 through September, 1998.
S.R. 857 will be permanently widened and a northbound left-hand turning lane will be constructed for traffic turning onto S.R. 3002 from S.R. 857.
Lanes will be shifted onto temporary pavement during the construction. Construction crews anticipate two lanes to be open at all times to accommodate both north and southbound traffic during the reconstruction.
The reconstruction project is part of the West Virginia/Pennsylvania line to Fairchance section of the Mon-Fayette Expressway. Improved sight distance and the added northbound turning lane will improve safety at the intersection. An increase in traffic in this area is anticipated as a direct result of the Expressway.
