TRAFFIC ADVISORY
LANE RESTRICTIONS IN WASHINGTON COUNTY
The Pennsylvania Turnpike
Commission is advising motorists of lane reductions and a
reduction of the speed limit for the westbound lanes of
Interstate 70 between Speers (Exit 16) and Lover (Exit 14). The
restrictions are necessary to construct acceleration and
deceleration lanes connecting Interstate 70 with State Route 43,
as part of the Turnpike Commission's Mon/Fayette Expressway
project.
Beginning Wednesday, May 21,
1997 through Thursday, July 3, 1997 the westbound lanes will be
restricted as follows: the speed limit will be reduced to 45
M.P.H., the left lane will be reduced to an 11-foot lane and the
right lane will be reduced to a 10-foot lane. The restrictions
will be in place 24 hours a day during the entire period.
Trucks and buses are restricted to the left lane only.
In order to install the
restrictions in the first few days of construction and dismantle
the restrictions in the last few days of the project, traffic
will be reduced to one lane.
MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO USE CAUTION IN THIS AREA AND
REMEMBER TO GIVE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE HIGHWAY WORKERS A
"BRAKE".
