TRAFFIC ADVISORY
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is advising motorists
that Westbound traffic will be stopped between Exit # 11 (Bedford)
and Exit # 10 (Somerset) in Bedford County on Thursday, October 24
and Sunday, October 27, 1996.
Thursday, October 24, Westbound traffic will be stopped for no
more than 15 minutes at a time between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and
3:00 P.M., weather permitting.
Sunday, October 27, 1996, Westbound traffic will be stopped
twice, up to one hour each, between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and
10:00 A.M., weather permitting.
The removal of girders on the bridge over the Turnpike at
milepost 124.88 will take place as part of the ongoing construction
project between mileposts 122 and 126.
In the interests of safety, traffic will be stopped to
complete the work. Message boards will be posted to advise
motorists of delays. Eastbound traffic will not be affected.
Travelers wishing to detour should exit at Bedford (#11) and
follow state Route 220 South to U.S. Route 30 West (follow
approximately 33 miles). Then pick up U.S. Route 219 South to
state Route 281 South, and re-enter the Pennsylvania Turnpike at
the Somerset Interchange (#10).
Motorists are urged to use caution in this area, and to
remember to give Pennsylvania Turnpike Highway workers a "brake".
