McCauley, 45, former Treasurer and Director of Business
Development for the Quaker State Corporation of Oil City, will
oversee all Turnpike finance and business matters and administer
the Commission's $160.5 million annual operating budget.
"Roger McCauley is a finance professional who will assist us
in achieving our goal of operating the Turnpike like a business,"
said Commission Chairman James F. Malone, III. "His years of
experience with one of our nation's leading corporations has
prepared him well for the challenge of managing the fiscal and
administrative affairs of the Pennsylvania Turnpike."
Malone said McCauley was selected by the Commission following a four month national executive search conducted by Deloitte & Touche of Philadelphia. The Turnpike received more than 200 applications for the position.
"It became clear to us during the selection process that Roger McCauley was the type of financial professional with the knowledge, skills and expertise the Turnpike needs to implement the financial controls and cost efficiencies I promised last April when I became Chairman of the Turnpike Commission," Malone added.
McCauley began his career at Quaker State as a Senior Internal Auditor in 1976. He worked his way up the corporate ladder to Supervisor of Internal Audits, Manager of Finance Planning, Manager of Corporate Finance Planning, Assistant Treasurer and then Treasurer and Director of Business Development.
Quaker State is relocating its corporate headquarters from Oil City, Pennsylvania to Texas. "My family and I made the decision that we didn't want to leave Pennsylvania," said McCauley. "My new position with the Turnpike not only gives me the opportunity to stay in Pennsylvania, but presents a new challenge to bring the expertise I've gained in private industry into the public sector."
The Turnpike's new chief financial officer graduated from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1972 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He attended Clarion University where he received his Master of Business Administration degree in 1974.
In addition to his work at Quaker State, McCauley has served
on the Board of Directors of the Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce
and as Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the Northwest Health
System. He is married and has two children.
"The Pennsylvania Turnpike is working hard to stay on the
cutting edge of transportation technology," said McCauley in
accepting his new position, "I'm looking forward to being part of
the team that carries the Turnpike's fine tradition of
transportation leadership into the 21st Century."
